Climate and Weather

Zimbabwe is a subtropical climate, summers are a comfortable 86 degrees Fahrenheit on average with winters being around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Every year, there is about 40 inches of rainfall.

December-March is Zimbabwe's main rainy season, so the best time to travel is between April and November. The nights are cooler from June-August so make sure you bring a warm jacket for nights.

October is the best time for game hunting.

How could Global Climate Change affect the climate of Zimbabwe? Well, if the levels of precipitation were to fall, the effects would be

  • Severe Water Shortages
  • Disease would spread to new areas
  • Deforestation

These would affect the country's two most popular sites to visit. The largest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls would shrink and the Evergreen Forests of Zimbabwe would not receive the needed moisture to continue growing.

The decrease in water flow for Victoria falls would create a decrease in the amount of visitors each year.  The Evergreen Forests would no longer be a year round attraction, but only seasonal based on the amount of rain.
